A logo is an idea which comes into its visual form makes a drastic effect on the eye of the viewer. A logo is responsible to identify the meaning of a company and its features & services as well. There is always a concept behind a good logo so that it can easily communicate the working of a particular company.
The bird of Twitter, the half-eaten fruit of Apple, or the smile between A to Z in Amazon, all these logos have some concept behind them which makes them stand out of the crowd.
If you want to become a creative and conceptual logo artist, follow the guidelines below and make your design unique –
Creative Brief: Make a meeting with your client to know exactly what he/she wants in their Logo Design. Discuss all the important things with them which are essential for you in this logo design process. For example name of the company, products & services, company target audience (specified by a particular age group), future goals of the company, company’s past growth, and the color choices for the logo if any. All these things help you a lot to make a better logo for that company.
Mood Board: When you have the creative brief in your hands, then start making a mood board with it. A mood board is anything where you collect the images related to your project. Suppose you have to design a logo for a car making company. For this, you need images of cars, their different models, different colors, etc. Design your mood board according to the client’s requirements and your creative brief. Make sure that all your images create the same mood. Different moods on the images will create confusion.
Idea Generation: With the help of your mood board, generate some ideas from it. Depend on the requirement, think of a unique idea that how your logo should be and create a concept for it. Think about the terms and features of the company and make your ideas compatible that it can easily identify the goals and missions of the company. Here your motive is to think out of the box by remembering all the essential things in your mind.
Sketching: Sketch what you have in your mind. Take some help from your mood board and draw a rough idea of your imaginations. A sketch is most important as you show it to your client for confirmation. If any changes required, it will be easy to modify your sketch accordingly.
Digital: If the client loves your sketch and gives you a thumbs up, now it’s time to convert this sketch into a digital form. You can create your logo using any of the designing software as per your choice but make sure to design in a vector format to make it print easy. It is also essential to create your logo in black & white color first then give it the other colors you want. Logo in a black & white format is easy to use in any area of printing.
Variations: Show the logo to your client and make the variations in it if needed. When everything will be alright, give the complete logo files to your client. These include .eps, .pdf, .jpeg, .png and some font files. All these files are required if they want to print the logo in the future.
These are the few basic steps that help you to make your design better and you will able to create a conceptual logo with a unique idea. A concept is a must for a logo to make a company stand out in the market.
